New library user: Campus libraries and printed books

This page has information about the library card, borrowing books, renewing loans and making reservations. Laurea Library is open for everyone. It collaborates with Haaga-Helia and Metropolia UAS libraries. The three libraries are called 3AMK libraries. You can borrow books from any 3AMK library and use the same library card.

How to get a library card

Tuudo mobile library card for Laurea students and staff

  • Laurea students can create a library card on their phone via Tuudo application.
  • When you have a Tuudo library card, there is no need for a traditional library card.
  • You can see the card on your phone and you use the self-service lending machine.
  • The library card's number is below the barcode.
  • You have the library card in Tuudo as long as you are a student.

Traditional library card for others than Laurea students and staff

  • You can get a library card from any 3AMK campus library's customer service.
  • Bring your passport or official ID card for identification.
  • You can fill in a library card application in advance

PIN code

  • You need a PIN code when you use the self-service lending machine.
  • You need a PIN code when you login to Laurea Finna.
  • You will get a PIN code when your  traditional library card is made.
  • You can see your PIN code in Tuudo when you activate your card.
  • You can change your PIN code later if you want.

Library rules

  • When you get a library card, you will agree to comply with the library rules.

How to login to Laurea Finna

You can login two ways:

1. HAKA-login (Laurea students and staff)

  • When you login for the first time, there is a text *Add library card*
  • Type your library card number. In Tuudo the number is under the barcode.
  • Type your PIN-code.
  • Now you can, for example, reserve and renew books in Laurea Finna. 

2. Library card number and PIN-code (you are not a Laurea student or staff)

When you are logged in, you can:

  • See your loans.
  • Renew loans.
  • Edit your personal information, for example change PIN.
  • Save information on books or articles you have found.

How to make a reservation

  • Login to Laurea Finna. Then you can make reservations. Note! Your Tuudo library card must be added to Laurea Finna.
  • You can reserve a book even though it is on loan. You will get the book when the previous customer returns it.
  • You can reserve a book if it is available in the library. However, if you are coming to the library, there is no need for a reservation. Get the book from the shelf.  
  • You can order a book from any 3AMK library. The book is transported to the library you want to pick it up.
  • You will get a notification when the book is available for pick-up. The last pick-up date is on the notification.
  • Send an email to the library if you don’t need the reservation or can’t pick it up on time. There is a 2 € fine if the reservation expires.

How to borrow and return books, renew loans

Borrow and return books

  • Books are borrowed and returned on self-service machines. The machines are inside library premises.
  • You need a library card and PIN code when you borrow books.
  • You don’t need a library card when you return books.
  • You can borrow books from any 3AMK library and return books to any 3AMK library.
  • You can use the self-service machines even though the library staff is not at the customer service.
  • Loan periods are two or four weeks.

Renew your loans and extend the loan-period

  • You don’t need to bring books to the library when you renew your loans.
  • You can renew your loans in Laurea Finna. Login to Laurea Finna with your Laurea credentials (HAKA) or library card number (other customers).
  • You can renew your loans in Tuudo.
  • You are not able to renew your loans if there is a reservation, you have renewed it 15 times or you have fines 15 € or more.
  • If you can’t renew your loans, return them to the library.

Library fees

Using the library is free. You get fines if you renew or return a book past the due date, don’t pickup a reservation on time or lose a book you have borrowed.

Overdue fines

  • You can check the due date, that is the last day you should return or renew your loans, from your patron information.
  • It is important to return or renew loans before the due date.
  • You will receive an email, which reminds you of the due date.
  • If the loans are late, there will be a fee 0,50 €/day/book.
  • You can pay the fines online via Laurea Finna.
  • If you have fines 15 € or more, it is not possible to borrow books.

Reservations with expired pick-up dates

  • You have received an email, that your reservation is available for pickup.
  • You can find the last pick-up date from the email.
  • If you don’t pick up the reservation on time, there is a 2 € fee.

Loosing a book

  • If you can't find a book you have borrowed, contact the library.

Opening hours and contacts

The library staff is present during customer service hours. The library can be open even though the staff is not present (self-service hours). It is possible to pick up, borrow and return books with self-service machines also during self-service hours.
